The summer days have passed, and once again, the season of harvest, autumn, has returned.
It is with great pride that we celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Busan International Dance Market (BIDAM).
As I reflect on the past 15 years, I recall moments of immense joy and glory, as well as challenges and concerns.
Yet, in spite of all these experiences, we now stand united, proudly marking BIDAM's 15th anniversary
with its banner held high.
Over these 15 years, our festival has accomplished much. We have introduced around 1,500 artists
and showcased over 200 works, both from Korea and abroad. We’ve fostered exchanges between international
and Korean artists, as well as between global and domestic producers. And we have worked tirelessly
to elevate public appreciation for dance within the local community.
Now, I turn our focus to the future. The road ahead will undoubtedly present us with continuous challenges,
but it also brings great expectations. If we become complacent with our past successes, we may lose sight
of the greatness that awaits. However, if we press forward with determination, this festival will grow into
more meaningful celebration of the arts, one that makes lasting contributions to the global artistic community.
Though time moves swiftly, artistic works endure. Artists do not merely exist in the present;
they transcend generations, living on through their creations. In these uncertain times, art remains a constant, bringing meaning and solace to the world.
I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Geumjeong Cultural Center for co-hosting
the 15th anniversary of BIDAM. I am also deeply thankful to the artists, producers, and delegates for invaluable contributions. Special recognition goes to those who have worked behind the scenes, making our stages shine. Without the voluntary efforts of our friends and colleagues, this festival could not have thrived for so long.
Lastly, I send my deepest thanks to those who have supported BIDAM financially throughout the years.
Thank you very much.
